In honor of Read Across America Day, we gathered the Project Nursery team to discuss books for baby. These are some books that were favorites of our own babies so you can help build your baby’s library.
Obviously, babies aren’t ready to follow along with an elaborate story, but there are some key factors that make a book a success for baby. Just like babies love the game of peek-a-boo, they love books that offer the same element of surprise. Flap books are universally loved by babies as well, especially when their tiny little fingers can start opening the flaps. Any book with beautiful illustrations will be a hit with baby, and playful rhythms are a pleasure for parents to read and music to baby’s ears.
1. Peek-a-Who 2. Dear Zoo 3. Susan Katz Flap Books 4. Pat the Bunny 5. Goodnight Moon 6. Yummy Yucky 7. The Going to Bed Book 8. We’re Going on a Bear Hunt 9. The Very Hungry Caterpillar 10. Each Peach Pear Plum

For me, nothing and no one comes close to Beatrix Potter. Classic. I'm surprised she's not included in your selection here.

I grew up on Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit series. And those illustrations are still the best in my book.
