Scarlett's Pink and Gray Nursery
Design Inspiration
I wanted the baby’s nursery to feel soft, relaxing, and feminine. I steered clear from your typical “baby themes” and instead decorated it with items I loved. Many of the items I actually already had around the home, like the rocking chair and night stand that she simply spray painted white to match. I also made sure there were plenty of books on hand for Scarlett. A lot of the the items were DIY projects, including the Keep Calm and Dream On print, alphabet print, and bunting print. I also made the butterfly mobile hanging above her crib. It is possible to make a nice nursery without shelling out a ton of money.
Decorating Style
Clean and fresh, with pops of color.

DIY instructions for the mobile:
For the mobile, I purchased 3 wooden embroidery hoops, a small, medium, and large size. Using just the inner hoops, I drilled holes on each side of them and inserted a wooden dowel through each of them, holding them all together. I then glued the dowel in place with wood glue and spray painted it white. Using 2 different size butterfly paper punches (purchased at Michaels craft store), I punched a bunch of butterflies out on white cardstock paper. I poked a hole through the middle of each butterfly using a pin and strung them on clear jewelry string tying a knot after each butterfly to hold in place. Then I added strings of butterflies until it looked full. Once all the butterflies are added, fold them in half a little so they aren't laying flat. I tied another piece of clear jewelry string on each side of the embroidery hoop and then hung it from the ceiling.

Advice
Pick a color scheme and try to find items that you like that complement them. If you have furniture but it's not the right color, spray paint it to match.

[…] Add a little whimsy to your child’s space and create a handmade mobile. Birds, butterflies and geometric shapes are currently the most common mobile designs on the market. Make your mobile from a simple quilt hoop, fishing wire and fabric, or cut the shape you desire from simple cardstock. Photo courtesy of ProjectNursery.com […]

Hi jessi,
The color is Berry Pink. I believe the brand was Painters Touch – by Rust Oleum. I picked it up at Home Depot.
