Description
I created this sports inspired nursery for my son, due at the end of February.
Photography by Susanna Gold.
Design Inspiration
When we found out we were expecting a baby boy, I knew I wanted to incorporate a sports theme into the nursery. Daddy is a former hockey player and current coach so when I came across the etsy hockey prints via Pinterest, I knew they were perfect. I used the gray, baby blue and navy in these prints as a jumping off point for the rest of the nursery.
The room was originally a guest room housing two double beds. We decided to leave one of the double beds in the room.
Decorating Style
My style is clean and contemporary. I like calm spaces and I incorporate many DIY touches into my decorating.
Project Details
Many items in the room are DIY.

Favorite Items
I really love the crochet hanging baskets completed for Mini May by my mom. The wool she choose is so soft and I love the way they display baby items.
The blanket ladder was a DIY project that my husband and I took on together. I received so many beautiful handmade blankets at my baby shower, including the white one on the top rung. I really wanted a way to display them.
The navy crib skirt, also made by my mom, is floor length which allows us to store things under the crib. I love the dark contrast against the cream Pottery Barn Crib.
For the longest time, I could not decide what to put above the crib. The shelf allows us to change up items and showcase the "Little Rookie" sign, completed as a gift by my best friend Lindsay.
Advice
Keep themes subtle. I knew I wanted a sports theme, but nothing over the top. I think this nursery achieves the theme while remaining a calm space for a baby.

This is an amazing nursery. There are many personal features and it seems to be a very functional space.
