Buggies Japanese Lantern Room

Description

When we moved into our house my daughter was right on the cusp of moving into her big girl bed. So instead of just redoing her nursery I wanted to give her a room she could grow into for a some years.

Design Inspiration

I started with the most adorable pillow cases from kuku nest.  I knew I wanted to use them as my inspiration.  From there is was all about colors.

Decorating Style

I would have to say fun, whimsical, girlie, and unique.

Project Details

Her bed was from Pottery Barn Kids.  I love that it was a trundle and that I was able to buy their guard rail to use.  Her dresser is Ikea.  We filled her shelves with mementos from trips and other nik naks.  I had my muralist come over and do her magic on the walls.  I loved how she made the lanterns look like they were blowing in the breeze.  I also wanted to have a cherry tree in her room.

Favorite Items

I think I would have to say her bed.  Only because I love climbing in it with her at bed time for story time and songs.  Memories I hope she will cherish.

Advice

DO not be afraid of color.  Mix and match, do not just bag a bed in a bag with the matching decals and wall hangings.  Give the room character.

You know what I think? This room is splendid! But may I suggest something? Add some kokeshi dolls! It would really make this room standout and won't be out of place!

I like your concept for this room, even if it didn't turn out to be japanese-y enough.  Great work on putting it all together!
