Description
I Couldn't wait to decorate my little boy's Nursery! Living in a small rental apartment provides its challenges. But to even have a separate room in the city is a big deal. Most importantly this room has to double as a guest room and hopefully he will grow into it as well.
Design Inspiration
I found an old copy of "Dr. Seuss The Cat in the Hat" and loved the vintage feel of it and colors. Which inspired me to go with the red and aqua theme. I wanted it to feel more boyish and playful, so i stayed away from pastels and such. It also makes the grandparents feel comfortable when they are staying in the room.
Decorating Style
Eclectic pieces inspire me, mixing meaningful things with more modern pieces.
Project Details
The Stokke Crib: Was bought of craig's list, we love that it is on wheels adding to the transitioning in the room. Also it was a bassinet for the first 3 months while he was in our room.
Prints: Etsy by Willow Tree and Me
Radio Flyer Shelf: My dad graciously made. We found a "how to" on Pinterest.
Dresser/Changing Table: West Elm
The Rug is from Flor and we designed it ourselves.
Love Pillow: Etsy by LaRae Boutique
Twin Bed/Bull Bed: IKEA (We changed out the knobs.)
Bedding: West Elm
Curtains: Target
Curtain Tie Back: Recycled from Baby Shower
Favorite Items
It would have to be the radio flyer shelf my dad made for me; it is a piece that we will take with us no matter where we are. I also love the red lantern lamp; it was in my brothers room growing up. Also, the blue stool has some history it was used in the kids bathroom growing up.
Advice
I stressed out trying to match the blues and it really doesn't matter just pick what you like. The babies love the bright colors and patterns no matter what. Don't forget about the functionality of the room; that will be the most important thing when the little one comes.
