Description
Baby mechanic photo shoot using dads tools, a power wheel, and framing it in a hand made frame with lots of tools around the border.
Design Inspiration
My husband is a mechanic and I thought it would be great to do a baby mechanic photo shoot with our son for his first Father's Day.
Project Details
After I did the photo shoot of my son I found a metallic frame from a local craft store. I also purchased small tools from a local hardware store at a low cost. I used epoxy to attach the tools around the frame.
I printed the photo out for 0.12$ at Walgreens in the size according to the frame you buy. My frame was fit for a 5x7 picture to be placed in the matting. Some frames comes with matting you can use or you can buy a sheet of matting and cut it to the size you want.
On the matting I uses stickers to write out " When I grow up I want to be like daddy" i did use two separate sticker styles so the first letter of each word and the word 'Daddy' was larger and really made a greater impression.
After the frame was dry (I let it sit for 24 hours) I put all the pieces together. I even made sure the mini flashlight has batteries in it and can be turned on.
Favorite Items
The frame with the tools that says "When I grow up I want to be like Daddy" is my favorite, but I made that one so my husband can keep it at work and it can be admired by his other mechanic buddies. I made the collage frame to keep at home because I think the photo session came out well!
Advice
Since our son in only 3 months old, we do not have a power wheel yet, but a friend of mine does so we did the photo session at her house. She also has a little puppy we added to the picture, a mini snap on tool box that matches his dads. Find a frame you like and a set of mini tools and just piece it together. I hope you enjoy!!

Hi! First of all, your project is INCREDIBLY adorable!! I don't have any kids yet myself, but I am definitely bookmarking this for the future! I was wondering if it would be okay if I used one of your photos for a tweet? I work for the City of Seattle and I think the photo of your son under the car with the puppy would be really great to go with a job ad we're running for an Auto Mechanic.
