Mendel’s Home Sweet Home Nursery

Description

I turned this very small space into a cozy nursery with popping colors.  I played on a subtle theme of home sweet home which I thought was a unique, warm and homey theme in and of itself.  With a mix of modern and new and old antiques, this simple yet fun nursery turned out just the way I had hoped.  Hope you enjoy it!  Thanks for lookin', friends!

Design Inspiration

I first found a crib sheet that made my heart sing on The Land of Nod.  I knew I wanted white walls and the sheet set the color scheme from there on out.  I found water color prints on Etsy and the one saying "Home Sweet Home" caught my heart and eye with all of it's charm and sweet implications for a baby's room.  From there I wove in subtle themes of home.

Decorating Style

I love a mix of new and old, neutrals with color, and pieces that have a story.

Favorite Items

In this room, I adore the antique 1950's elephant and Home Sweet Home print I trimmed and had matted and framed. The barnwood Kentucky silhouette is pretty fantastic and perfect for the home sweet home theme for my Kentucky babies. The Land of Nod knock of blanket made by Etsy shop SlumberSpun was perfect, practical, and cheaper than the Land of Nod one with all the same quality.

Advice

When mixing patterns, mix a large bold print with smaller ones like I did with the large print rug and the smaller print sheet.  That way they stay balanced and not too busy.  Mix in personal items, DIY, and older items that have history.  This way your room/house, always has a story when someone says, "Where did you get this?"
