Description
This baby girl nursery was created for a small space using convertible pieces in warm neutrals with pink accents.
Design Inspiration
I found myself dealing with the very interesting reality of having to make the spare bedroom in our two-bedroom condo (a room we’d been using as an office/closet/dressing area) spacious enough for our own needs and a new baby with an expanding wardrobe that rivals my own – on a budget. I found a great compromise in the colors and decor we used as well as with space-saving convertible furniture that will grow with our baby and pieces we can use in other parts of the house if we move in the future.
Decorating Style
My decorating style is usually contemporary with a vintage twist. I love mixing different styles and making them work in small spaces, which is why I tend to buy pieces that are convertible and can be re-purposed in different rooms of the house.
Project Details
Details: After painting the room a warm shade of grey (and letting it air out a few days), we applied vinyl decals from Blik in a pattern we liked. We saved $200 on the convertible crib by buying it at Burlington rather than a big name baby store. Thanks to IKEA, we scored a clearance-priced wardrobe with adjustable shelves and roomy drawers, which allowed us to keep using the existing closet as our own. The area rug was picked up on a great daily sale byJoss & Main. The rocking chair was graciously donated by a friend who no longer needed it, so ask around and you might be able to save on some big-ticket items. Bedding came from our registry at buybuyBaby by CoCalo, one of the more design-influenced lines I came across. And the hanging bird cages came from Michael’s as part of the decor we used for our garden-themed baby shower.
Favorite Items
My favorite item is the convertible crib that will later turn into a toddler bed and eventually become a headboard for a full bed.
Advice
Be sure to check with friends for items they may no longer need, look at clearance sales at furniture stores, and keep up with online sales for the best prices rather than picking everything up from big-name baby stores.

Those birdcages are so cute! And those vinyl decals are just lovely and elegant.

Thank you :) The vinyls are great since they don't harm your walls or paint. I love using them around the house.
