Red, White and Blue “Big Boy” Room

Description

My son needed to vacate the nursery to make room for our newest little baby girl arriving, so we got started on fixing up the guest room and turning it into his big boy room. He's into superheroes, but I didn't want the room to scream Marvel, so I added a few hero touches to keep him happy, but also added lots of boyish, unique elements that I think will grow with him as he gets older.

Design Inspiration

I've always been a big navy blue and red fan, so I looked into adding a lot of red, white and blue touches and patterns to the room. I stenciled the wall behind his bed with a multi colored herringbone pattern and hung his monogram above his bed and I added his favorite heroes on the wall next to his bed as a little added personality that could easily be changed out over time as his tastes changed.

Decorating Style

Traditional and functional, but always thinking outside the box. I enjoy mixing colors, patterns, and textures and creating rooms that NO one else has.

Favorite Items

My favorite items are the stenciled headboard and the framed hero prints...they are very unique and a labor of love.

Advice

Try not to go overly themey with your room and find things that incorporate items like like without over doing it so that a year later when they have outgrown that character or theme you don't have to change the entire room up again.
