Description
This is a nursery I designed for my daughter. So fun being my own client ;). I have three wonderful boys and when I was expecting baby number 4, I was hoping so badly for a girl. My pregnancy was a tough one with lots of worries. A couple of months before we found out the gender, I was in bed with the flu and pneumonia and just so sick. I spent days and sleepless nights planning this nursery- I think it got me through! Finding out we were having a girl and then watching the room come to life was incredible and such a rewarding experience. We are renting, so with that comes some tricky challenges to overcome, but I'm so pleased with the result and I feel like I can move the room to a new home and that the pieces can really grow with my daughter as she gets older.
Design Inspiration
The curtain fabric and the Russian dolls that were mine as a child. I remember running across the floral fabric (before I was even expecting) and thinking "someone needs to use this in a little girl's room!". I've always loved the color green, and waiting for so long to be able to have pink things...the rest just came together!
Decorating Style
As a designer I feel like I wear many style hats, but I wanted this nursery to feel feminine and fresh, bright and updated, beautiful but fun.
Project Details
I found the dresser on craigslist and changed out the hardware to something modern and gold. I've LOVED having a dedicated changing station with this baby!
I used IKEA shelving and painted the brackets gold and I just love the pop they give to the room. The shelf accessories are a collection of things I had growing up and new treasures like the gold baskets from H&M. They were such a great price—I wish they still had them!!

Such a hard question! The Michelle Armas canvas just might be it...and the texture of the mirror...and the lucite curtain rod...ahhhhh!
Advice
Ground your room with white, clean-lined pieces and layer in gold, green, and pink with textiles and accessories.
