Viv’s Gray and White Nursery

Description

We wanted a nursery for baby girl that would be functional, feminine and something she could grow into.  The previous owners put in the wainscoting/bead board and chandelier so we wanted to work around both of those things.

Design Inspiration

I spent hours searching Project Nursery, Pinterest, etc. for ideas and I couldn't decide on a color or theme.  But during a trip to Ikea I found the gray/white striped curtains with lace sheers and from that point on I knew we were locked in to the gray/white scheme.

Favorite Items

I love the "Let her sleep" pillow --my sister cross-stitched it free-hand for us since we couldn't find one we liked.  I also love the teepee (and so does big brother who has a fun place to hang out when we are in the nursery).  The ram head was something I saw in a magazine years ago and had always thought that it would be cool to have in a nursery--and the pink pearl necklace we put on it was my grandma's so it adds a fun feminine touch.  Oh and I love the Rifle Paper Co. artwork too!

Advice

1. Be careful on paint colors--this room had to be painted 3 times because the lighting is so funky.  Try a few swatches on the walls before you commit!
2. Don't be afraid to buy and try (I learned that you have to see it in the space to make a good decision).
3. Be careful decorating with "teal" -- people call teal "turquoise, aqua, blue-green," etc.  Many times I had to see the color in person to rule it out as the wrong shade.
